Samuel Hamilton Ledford

Samuel Hamilton Ledford was my great-great-great Grandfather.

From my Grannie's Photo Album:
This post-card type photo was in my Grannie's photo album, along with a hand-written-by-her note detailing who is (supposedly) in the photo.

In her notes, she named her great-Grandmother, Sam's wife, as Elizabeth (Eliza) Wood. I don't know where she got that name, nor I have ever run across it in any of my research (sometimes people got names mixed up and maybe named such like a brother's wife by mistake).
She also shows Ellen as having never married, but my notes says she married William Towery.

Neither the photo nor the note was dated.

From my Notes:

Samuel Hamilton Ledford was born ca.1846 (in S.C.?) to Thomas Ledford and Eliza Tanner, and was the the grandson of Peter G. Ledford and (Martha?Nancy?Ann?Young?).
He died ca.1910, unknown location.

Samuel married Rutha M. Hill.

Ruth was born in Georgia ca.1847 to Jeremiah Hill (b.ca.1826 NC) and Mary ____ (b.ca.1827 GA). She died ca.1909, unknown location.

Sam and Ruth had 11 children:

1. Mary Ellen Ledford, b.ca.1866, married William P. Towery on 12 Sept.1882, Cleveland Co, NC

2. Eliza Canzadie Ledford, b. Nov 24, 1867, d. Feb 16, 1952, buried at Ledford's Chapel in Hayesville, Clay County, NC. Married J. Hicks Byers.

3. Stanhope Lee Ledford, b.ca.1871

4. Caledonia (Dona) Ledford, b.ca.1873

5. Ary Matilda Ledford, b.ca.1874

6. Zebulon B. Ledford, b.ca.1877

7. Lena Clementine Ledford, b.ca.1878, died young

8. Robert Lee Ledford, b. Sept 23,1882, d.Nov 11,1959, married Ila Elizabeth Swanson, b. July 28,1888, d. Feb 9,1922

9. Benjamin Ailey Ledford
